Local communities from Petodaan and Kuala Pandote villages resisted for 15 days in 2005, burning one of APRIL’s dredged waterways . The company uses the waterway to send logs from its 40,000 ha of plantation into the Kampar river. These are then transported to the pulp mill further upstream. The communities worked together to shut down the waterway, which is still dammed up today.
